- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/3 cup oil (vegetable or canola)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 tbsp sugar (for the swirl)

- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two loaf pans.
- In one bowl, mix flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
- In another bowl, whisk together sugar, egg, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients until smooth, but do not overmix.
- Pour half of the batter into each loaf pan.
- Sprinkle a generous layer of cinnamon sugar over the batter.
- Add remaining batter, top with more cinnamon sugar, and gently swirl with a knife.
- Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to finish cooling.
Notes
Use a homemade buttermilk substitute if needed by mixing 1 tbsp vinegar or lemon juice into 1 cup milk and letting it sit 5–10 minutes.
