- 2 cups filtered water
- 1 inch fresh ginger root, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 large organic lemon, halved
- Optional: 1 teaspoon raw honey
- Optional: Fresh mint leaves for garnish
- Optional: A pinch of sea salt to balance electrolytes
Instructions
- Step 1: Wash ingredients – Wash the ginger root and lemon thoroughly under cold water.
- Step 2: Prepare ginger – Peel the ginger and cut it into thin slices or grate it to maximize surface area.
- Step 3: Simmer ginger – Place the ginger slices into a small pot with 2 cups of water. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5–10 minutes.
- Step 4: Cool the infusion – Remove the pot from heat and allow the ginger water to cool to a warm temperature.
- Step 5: Add lemon juice – Squeeze the juice of half a lemon into a large glass or mug.
- Step 6: Strain and combine – Strain the warm ginger water into the glass, discarding the solid ginger pieces. Add remaining lemon slices to the glass.
- Step 7: Optional sweetener – Stir in honey if a sweeter taste is desired.
- Step 8: Serve – Drink warm in the morning or refrigerate to enjoy as a chilled refreshing beverage throughout the day.
