- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs (room temperature)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup mini M&Ms (plus more for topping)
- Optional: 1/4 cup chocolate chips for extra gooeyness
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven – Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch pan with parchment paper.
- Step 2: Mix butter and sugar – In a bowl, whisk melted butter and sugar until combined.
- Step 3: Add eggs and vanilla – Add eggs and vanilla; whisk until smooth.
- Step 4: Add dry ingredients – Sift in cocoa powder, flour, and salt. Stir until just combined—do not overmix.
- Step 5: Fold in M&Ms and chocolate chips – Fold in 1/2 cup mini M&Ms (and optional chocolate chips).
- Step 6: Pour batter – Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Step 7: Bake part one – Bake for 15 minutes, then remove and gently press more M&Ms on top.
- Step 8: Bake part two – Return to oven and bake an additional 10–15 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
- Step 9: Cool and serve – Cool in pan for at least 20 minutes before slicing.
Notes
Use baking M&Ms for best appearance. For thicker brownies, bake in a smaller 7×7 pan. Add frosting or a drizzle of ganache for extra indulgence. Store airtight at room temp for 3–4 days or freeze up to 3 months.
