- 1 lb frozen shrimp (shell-on or peeled)
- 4 cups water
- 1 tbsp salt
- Optional: lemon slices, garlic, herbs, or Old Bay seasoning
Instructions
- Step 1 (Boil Water): Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil.
- Step 2 (Add Seasoning): Add salt and optional seasonings.
- Step 3 (Add Shrimp): Add frozen shrimp; start timing once water returns to a boil.
- Step 4 (Boil Shrimp): Boil according to size chart (see Part 2 of article).
- Step 5 (Check Doneness): Shrimp is done when pink, opaque, and firm.
- Step 6 (Cool Shrimp): Transfer immediately to an ice bath to stop cooking.
- Step 7 (Serve): Drain and serve.
Notes
Adjust cooking time based on shrimp size (refer to chart in article). For prawns, add 1–2 minutes to boiling time.
