Ingredients
- Ripe bananas with brown spots
- Water
- Granulated sugar (or brown sugar)
- Vanilla extract (optional)
- Pinch of warm spice (optional)
Instructions
- Step 1: Slice and Mash – Slice your ripe fruit and gently mash the pieces in a bowl to help release their natural juices.
- Step 2: Combine Base Ingredients – Combine equal parts water and granulated sugar in a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring continuously until the sugar completely dissolves.
- Step 3: Simmer and Infuse – Add the prepared fruit pieces into the simmering sugar water, reduce the heat to low, and let the mixture gently bubble for fifteen minutes to extract maximum flavor.
- Step 4: Strain the Liquid – Remove the saucepan from the heat source and pour the warm liquid through a fine-mesh strainer into a clean bowl, pressing gently to extract all the flavorful essence.
- Step 5: Bottle and Store – Allow the finished creation to cool completely before transferring it into a sterilized glass jar for refrigerator storage.
Notes
Store in an airtight glass container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Can also be frozen in ice cube trays for up to three months.
