Ingredients
- 1–2 teaspoons high-quality matcha powder
- 2–3 ounces hot water, about 175°F (80°C)
- Optional: 2–4 ounces additional hot water, to taste
- Optional: Splash of unsweetened almond milk
- Optional: Squeeze of fresh lemon
Instructions
- Step 1: Sift the Matcha – Sift 1–2 teaspoons of high-quality matcha powder into a ceramic bowl to remove lumps and create a smoother drink.
- Step 2: Add the Hot Water – Pour 2–3 ounces of hot water, around 175°F (80°C), over the sifted matcha. Avoid boiling water.
- Step 3: Whisk Until Frothy – Using a bamboo whisk, whisk briskly in a “W” or “M” motion until the matcha is fully dispersed and a light layer of foam forms on top.
- Step 4: Adjust the Consistency – Add additional hot water for a lighter drink or a splash of unsweetened almond milk for a creamier consistency.
- Step 5: Serve and Sip Mindfully – Add a squeeze of fresh lemon if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy the matcha warm without added sugar, if preferred.
Notes
Matcha: Use high-quality matcha powder for the best flavor and texture.
Water temperature: Water around 175°F (80°C) is recommended. Boiling water can make matcha taste more bitter.
Whisking: Sifting the powder first and whisking quickly in a “W” or “M” motion helps produce a smoother, frothier drink.
Optional additions: Unsweetened almond milk and fresh lemon are optional and will change the final nutrition values.
Nutrition: Nutrition information is an estimate and can vary depending on the amount and brand of matcha and any optional ingredients used.
Note: This recipe is intended as a beverage and does not by itself cause weight loss. Weight management depends on overall diet, activity, and other individual factors.
